Spindletop Charities, Inc., also known as Spindletop International, is a 501(c)(3) not for profit corporation benefiting area youth charities, while promoting goodwill and fellowship within the oil and gas industry.

Spindletop's contributions to area youth charities are the result of its annual fundraising events, as well as other generous donations from corporations and individuals.


Spindletop Holiday Ball

The Spindletop Holiday Ball continues to be the premiere holiday event in the oil patch! The gala is an occasion for oil and gas industry executives to celebrate Spindletop's contributions to youth charities. The Spindletop Toy Drive is held during the evening, bringing joy to hundreds of children during the holidays.

During this event, the Mr. Spindletop Award and the Don Waggener - Butch Griffin Award are presented to an outstanding individual representing the exploration and production side of the industry and an outstanding individual representing the service side of the industry, respectively.

Spindletop Oilmen's Golf Tournament

Spindletop was founded with an invitational golf tournament in 1966, and this event has grown over the years to become the world’s largest oilmen’s charitable golf tournament! Over 370 oil and gas executives join together during the weekend preceding the annual Offshore Energy Conference in Houston to raise significant funds for area youth charities.

Spindletop Mardi Gras Celebration

The Spindletop Mardi Gras Celebration is another festive event which raises significant funds for youth charities. It is a private event attended by oil and gas industry executives who have been generous supportors of Spindletop throughout the year.

100% of donations made to Spindletop Charities, Inc. outside of the Spindletop hosted events, either through unsolicited individual donations, corporate giving, or employee match programs, will be donated directly to the youth charities served!


Donation from the Road to Key West

The Oil & Gas Late Night Players, represented by Tom Wertz (Left) and Ray Wilcox, produced “The Road to Key West” in 2004 to benefit Spindletop. Spindletop Executive Director Constance White and Houston Mayor Bill White were on hand to accept the donation on behalf of Spindletop Charities, Inc. and Houston area youth.


Thanks to the participants in the 2010/2011 Oil & Gas Executive Invitational Golf Tournament held at Barton Creek, Spindletop was presented a check in the amount of $10,000/$12,000 respectively. Making the presentation in 2010 to Spindletop Executive Director Constance White and Trustee Ryan Lance (rt) were tournament directors Tom Sonnonstine and PK Caldwell.



Company A Texas Rangers donated funds raised from its 2005 Co. A Golf Tournament to Spindletop. Together, Spindletop and the Texas Rangers selected the HISD Foundation Even Start Program to receive the generous donation. The Even-Start Program provides bilingual books to help educate both child and parent.
